Sources we rely on

• State and territory road authorities: Transport for NSW, VicRoads/Department of Transport and Planning (Vic), Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, WA Department of Transport and Road Safety Commission, SA Department for Infrastructure and Transport, Tasmania’s Department of State Growth, NT and ACT road authorities.
• Motoring clubs: RAC (WA), RACV (Vic), RACQ (Qld), NRMA (NSW/ACT), RAA (SA), RACT (Tas), AANT (NT).
• Caravan and RV organisations: CMCA (Campervan & Motorhome Club of Australia), plus national park and council camping pages for location rules.
• Manufacturers: vehicle, caravan, towbar and tyre documentation.

Our rules

1. Every safety or legal statement links to an official or primary source.
2. No invented statistics, prices or personal anecdotes. If we give an example figure, we label it as an example.
3. We use AI tools to research and draft. Content is checked against sources before publishing.
4. Guides show a “last reviewed” date and are re-checked at least yearly or when rules change.
5. Affiliate relationships never decide what we recommend. See our affiliate disclosure.
